History of OdysseyNH (formerly Odyssey House, Inc.)

Founded in 1970, Odyssey NH, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that helps at-risk young people, mothers and families reclaim their lives through individually tailored programs of evaluation, education and treatment. Our founding mission to treat alcohol and drug addicted individuals has expanded to meet the needs of a changing society.

OdysseyNH has grown significantly in the past 38 years, adapting programs to meet the increasingly complex needs of our clients, who come to us from across the state of New Hampshire. To that end, the agency has become more diversified, offering an array of services including diagnostic, therapeutic (residential, out-patient, home-based), educational, transitional living and outreach services. In all OdysseyNH programs success is reflected in each participants' willingness to take responsibility for their own healing, learning and growth. Today, the OdysseyNH family of services includes four residential programs as well as New Hampshire's first and only Recovery School at OdysseyNH Academy.

With an operating budget of $6 million, OdysseyNH currently employs more than 100 full and part-time staff. OdysseyNH is a member of several national professional organizations including the Child Welfare League of America, and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children. This voluntary accreditation certifies that OdysseyNH programs meet the highest national standards for quality service to troubled youth and their families.
